For most people it can seem quite daunting starting as a complete Line Dance novice, you don’t know the steps and you’ll probably be thinking everyone is better than me.
I know it’s easier to say than do but don’t worry, no one is looking at you and if they are it’s most likely because they think you are better than them and they are following you.
Remember even the best dancers were once where you are now, it is only with practice and regular classes that you’ll increase your dance skills, so persevere and before you know it you’ll be the one people look to for footwork.
There are no special clothes needed for line dancing, just something you feel comfortable in. Line Dancing is an aerobic activity and you’ll soon warm up so layers are better than a big jumper for example, see what the other dancers are wearing, how warm you get and dress accordingly.
Correct footwear is vital, the best type of shoe is a split sole dance trainer, smooth rubber soled shoes or boots or a wide low-heeled shoe or boot, leather soled boots and shoes can become very slippery on certain types of floor. If you can turn on the balls of your feet without feeling resistance you are wearing good footwear.
We will not allow you to dance if are wearing stiletoes, flip-flops, loose fitting sandals or wellington boots because they can damage the floor but more importantly they could cause you an injury.
Please ask if you need footwear advice regarding the correct shoes or boots to wear.
Please bring along your own refreshments to each class*, most people bring along a bottle of water, dancing is thirsty work!
If you have any doubts about whether line dancing is a suitable hobby for you to take up – please consult your GP for advice.
